Oral history is the recording of people’s memories, feelings and experiences. It’s all about capturing lived experience. Not just the dates, facts and figures, but what it actually felt like on the day, and how it shaped things to come. The real stuff!
Since 2019, the National Paralympic Heritage Trust has been recording oral histories with athletes, coaches, volunteers, healthcare professionals and others who have been involved in the Paralympic Movement. From injury and treatment to world records, new technology and changing attitudes, we aim to create a record of Paralympic history for everyone to learn from and enjoy in the most authentic way possible, directly from those who were part of it.
Some interviews had to be conducted remotely, so the audio quality of some clips isn’t as clear as we’d like – but we think the stories speak through the static! Please enjoy.
